Unfortunately they are actually prescribing Ozempic with patient approval using off label. Off-label drug use refers to the practice of prescribing a drug for a different purpose than what the FDA approved. So it is done and I can attest that seven pharmacies in the area, not to include two military pharmacies that can’t get it either. And they blame it on doctor’s prescribing it to people outside of the diabetic needs.

This shortage has been going on for two years, so it’s not just high demand. I have a hard time believing they haven’t been able to increase producton in that time. Maybe they don’t want to bother since the US patent on semaglutide expires in two years.
