I find it ironic that this is a speech given by an Australian politician named John Gardner, commemorating the anniversary of the fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975 and yet there is no mention of that sad day from anyone here in the United States.

Over 60,000 Australians served in Vietnam, with 523 losing their lives and over 2,400 wounded.
The Armed Forces of the United States never lost a ground engagement in Vietnam. The war, in my judgment, was lost by lack of support by Congress, led by the liberal news media.
It should also be noted that both the House and Senate were controlled by Democrats. They got us into the war and disgracefully ended it.

Yup...Maoists scum like Kerry,Fonda and Biden decided that the North Vietnamese commies were the good guys and we were the bad guys. But then, the Maoists at Rat Party Headquarters believe even today that the commies (and moslems) are the good guys and we're the bad guys.

LBJ lied, and a lot of Americans died. Signed a Vietnam Vet.

I've always wondered about the difference in motivation between the North Vietnamese and the South Vietnamese people. It seems like the NVA were prepared to endure anything - for years - to win, while the South Vietnamese didn't really seem to care much. They sure didn't commit to the fight like they were in an existential struggle. You would think that some of the stuff the VC did to the villagers to coerce their cooperation would have inspired a white-hot hatred.
I was too young to follow things at the time, so maybe my perspective is skewed. I'd appreciate any insight from those who know...

Another proxy war with Russia and China where the American taxpayer lost both money, family and friends, and the big investors in the military industrial complex got wealthier. Rinse and repeat.
