Oh, by the way, Bertie, that was his nickname. was hoping his mother would’ve retired and past the crown to him before her death, but like Charles and Queen Elizabeth she gave up her crown until she took her last breath. Bertie was bitter because his mother held on to the throne for those many years. If I remember correctly, Queen Victoria was 96 when she died. Making Bertie around 50 years old and unhealthy. His partying, gluttony and women caught up with him. I believe he was around 50+ when he died which in our time was considered young. His life style did him in.

Queen Victoria was 81 when she died. Before her, George III also died at 81; they were the first British monarchs to live into their 80s. Edward VII was 68 when he died.
