I saw a documentary once where one of them, I think it was John Lodge was expressing surprise that some people sort of saw them as gurus... he said they had no agreement amongst themselves about spiritual matters... he said ‘two were Christians, one a Buddhist and an agnostic and a mystic. (paraphrased)’ He said that spirituality was involved in their music but they didn’t feel they had any special message they were trying to convey.

I heard Graeme Edge the drummer talk about how there were “two Christians, an agnostic, an atheist” in the group.

In the same interview Edge said the band realized things were getting out of hand when some guy got on his knees in front of Edge backstage and pleaded for Edge to bestow his blessing on him.
