I wonder if it’s cheaper through the vet than a doctor

Cut their nuts off, put “em on Prozac. Why not just go for the hat trick and poke their eyes out too?

Bad enough they want to drug our kids. Now they want to drug our pets.

Dogs are okay for other people. My youngest daughter is a dog-walker on retainer for a neighbor.

Considering the state of much of of the human race, I am not too surprised. Dogs pick up on their owners’ emotional state. Some owners are negligent in the care of dogs. I include as negligence owners who buy large and energetic dogs that need space and exercise and keep them in apartments.

I remember reading that the COVID lockdowns led some people to buy dogs and when the crisis was over they realized that they couldn’t just stash the dog in the basement with that bicycle or exercise equipment they also bought and got tired of. That probably accounts for animal shelters at capacity and strays, which I see a lot of around here. Abused or neglected dogs often carry that trauma with them to a new home.

A dog’s life, for a lot of dogs, isn’t what it is cracked up to be.

As in the human world, oftentimes a prescription β€” particularly for a cheap, generic anxiety pill β€” is easier and more affordable than the hundreds to thousands of dollars that training classes or boutique behaviorist practices that vets also recommend can cost.

It's the lazy way out.

Most people can train a dog themselves if they start young. I suspect the problem is, they trained their dog into bad habits and don't know how to train them out of them so need classes.

They are probably as much *train the owner to be a good owner* as they train the dog to obey.

Don’t give up on owning a dog until you look into all of them.

This dog may appeal to you for instance.

There’s nothing wrong with the dog, but his owner owner is likely to be both neglectful and an idiot.

https://youtu.be/enPCZA1WFKY?feature=shared. Our pets are set up for a life of Vet care because the Vets want them neutered at 6 months which is never good for a cat or dog.

I suspect that in most cases where a dog is medicated for anxiety it is owned by an unwed female or wannabe female who is most likely a liberal or a nonpolitical hypochondriac with lib tendencies.

Absolutely right. Supposedly less than 5% of people bother to train their animals, not even the most basic no/come/sit/ stay. It’s probably even lower after the rise of 24 hour screen entertainment/screen culture.
