Do muslims abort? Abortion is considered unlawful and a major sin (HARAM) in Islam regardless of the stage of pregnancy.

The governing epigram here is “politics is the art of the possible.” Abortion is fundamentally a political problem despite the sincerity of those who see it as a moral issue— which includes me, btw. In a political battle between idealism and pragmatism, idealism is easy to defeat. Pro-abortionists simply focus on the pragmatic and ignore the immorality of their position.

Of course truth is also an ideal which the Left routinely ignores. A simple euphemism— “reproductive health” — overrides a volume of moral suasion. And in an ecology where faith is rapidly being drained from the public square, that’s all it takes. Pro-abortionists are evil but they are not stupid; they easily see
through pro-life efforts to finesse a total ban, eg articles like this one which telegraphs the goal in case anyone missed it, and have no problem devising rhetorical tactics to disable it.

One domain illustrates the core issue— the debate over ”hard cases.” There was a time when it worked rather well to oppose abortion while allowing for the cases of “rape, incest and life of the mother.” If we had adopted this kind of compromise post-Roe, instead of moralistically demanding a total ban, life might be different today. By opposing these exceptions on grounds of moral absolutism, we are easily painted as uncaring, fascist woman-hating extremists. The pro-abortion counter argument practically writes itself.

Some would say such a position is an unacceptable moral compromise, and simply opens life up to a slippery slope— and yes it would require constant vigilance to prevent that. But what we are facing now is the threat of being
pushed off a cliff, from which there may be no pathway back.

It is a good article overall. The 14th amendment argument falls a bit short due to the wording (born) in that amendment.

The best point made is in the third argument. The absolute lack of logic of allowing abortion exceptions in the case of a crime (rape/incest) or potential birth defects is ridiculous.

The unborn child is the ultimate innocent life. How can we condemn an innocent to death because of a crime committed by a parent? Killing a baby does not erase the rape or change the trauma the mother went through.

Likewise with the predicted birth defects. If someone suggested euthanizing all mentally or physically disabled people, everyone would be up in arms about that. Abortion for the reasons is no different.

There is no logical or moral reason to allow abortion in either of these cases.

People don’t like absolutists. They come across as purists and “better than thou”.

Pro-lifers MUST come out with a compromise, or else Biden/Newsome will be installed into the WHouse and abortion-’til-birth will become the national law.

Allow it for any reason up to 90 days. After that, ONLY if the Mom’s life is in physical danger.

Pretty much sums up the argument. The opposition doesn't care about 'life of the mother' or whether viable at an 'x number of weeks'....all they care about is MURDER and sacrifice to moloch....anything else is a camel's nose under the tent and when we fail to define it as MURDER, "abortion" makes it sound acceptable in 'some' circumstances when the opposite is true.

The liberals may agree that a fetus is a "human being", but they might disagree that it is a "human person".

But even if you can get them to agree that it is a human person, there are still folks who say that the mother is also a human person and her right to take control over her body outweighs the right of the fetus to be born.

Judith Butler is a feminist philosopher who put arguments before the court during the Roe v Wade decision that claimed to show that even if you consider the fetus a human person, it is still okay in some situations for it to be aborted.

This is why the Supreme Court came up with the wishy-washy compromise they did based on trimesters.
