No, actually the CAKEWALK was a term that comes down to us from contests ( usually held by blacks, for blacks ) at the end of the 19th century, whose first prize was a...CAKE! There were many different songs written especially for these dances and sheet music still exists.

These contests and dances became famous and many teams/acts made it to the vaudeville stage.

Thanks. I can’t remember where I read it was a way for a beau to bid on or outright purchase a cake made by his intended. Still I find nothing racist about it.
