They were good. So was Bad Company.

Most bands of that list sucked. Dokken? Come on!
No Van Halen? No Metallica? No Aerosmith? No AC/DC?

We called em “chick metal” cause the girls liked them. But also hair metal, spandex metal, bubblegum metal.

Metallica is one of the big 4 of thrash. Though honestly for the first four albums they were prog-metal but that didn’t coalesce into a subgenre until the early 2000s.

Metallica was pop metal. I liked them but for the real thing Megadeth just ruled.

SLADE. That brings back memories. Very under appreciated considering so many of their songs were copied by crummy 80s hair bands. And Roddy almost became lead singer for AC/DC when Bon died.

I remember Run Run Away almost always on the radio .

Pretty much everyone, back when/where I lived in NJ. The same fans also said KK Downing was gay and Glenn Tipton was bi . . .

My favorite Beavis and Butthead line:

“These better be chicks dammit, ‘cause they’re giving me a woody.”

Metallica didn’t mellow to kinda pop metal until Bob Rock showed up for the Black Album (and the next 4). Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and And Justice for All are thrash and blue prints for prog-metal (2 songs on Justice are longer than Yes’ Heart of the Sunrise, let the chord changes roll).

I think Lita was the only straight one in The Runaways.

My fav by that band is actually the Play It Loud LP. The band actually had an older-style skinhead look then.

You're right Slade started out as skinheads

I must say hair bands have aged very well over these past 30 years.

I know Nirvana and the rest of the grunge bands of the early 1990s pretty much destroyed hair metal but those were good times. Especially all the power ballads of the 1980s.

If we’re including out of scope bands, like Judas Priest, why not die Skorpione!

Yeah, kind of hard to be a hair metal band, when your lead singer has no hair, LOL.
