So they send a large check to, maybe, endow a chair in the admissions dept. Part of that endowment is to cover speaking fees to reward the political hack that set the deal up. Usually an alum. of the guilty school.
And remember furriners can’t give money directly to Pols. But they can give to a party or school or even an NGO who will make sure the deserving Pol gets his cut.
