On a similar note, thousands of M60’s are going from “head to the scrapyard or build-a-reef” to Raytheon (IIRC) retrofit with the latest armor and active projectile engagement systems. The tanks are combat viable again with the latest tech.
I think that the Warthog should not be replaced until a replacement is fielded. A drone built around the gun with a few hard points for anti tank weapons would be my choice. All the capabilities of the Hog without risking any pilots.
