Hedonism, is a flawed ethical theory that places the pursuit of pleasure as the ultimate goal in life. While the pursuit of individual happiness is a valid and important aspect of life, hedonism takes it to an extreme by prioritizing immediate physical or sensory pleasure above all else.
If you have seen that world then you have seen how hard it is on the females, they can’t keep up in that world and it breaks them down and uses them up.
A “Godly” message would be centered around being chaste.
And what she is saying is that she wishes she had been chaste and married and a mother.
The song is not perfectly worded, but carries the sentiment of a woman who feels she wasted her life running after the high life and now sees she went after fleeting good feelings instead of *true* happiness.
Feminism is just a bunch of women bonding over their shared personality disorder.
An historical note: this was written when feminists were saying that marriage is a form of prostitution and that women should be as free as men.
A really messed-up generation that messed things up for future generations.

No, these lyrics are not a “Godly” message that young girls should hear.
Young girls need to be taught to be chaste rather than be taught to be “undressed by kings” and then repent about it later.

Plenty of songs about regretting living the “kicks” seeking life. “When I Was Young”, “Kicks”, “Early Morning Rain”, to name a few...
The song was detailing a modern woman realizing that there is more to life than glitz, glamour,”fun”..done in a 70’s maudlin style.
Message summarized in question, “what does it profit a man, to gain the world but lose his soul?”

Ah, you misunderstand the song. All that stuff about being undressed by kings and the like were what she is now regretting having focused on. She sees that those things were a waste and she regrets having spent her life doing that.
Exactly....agree. As Dr. Laura used to say.........men on their knees thanking the feminist movement. In other words....they get free what used to cost them some things. Like a commitment....
