Dad tried to pawn that one off on me about 60 years ago. He tried it when he was motorcycling around the Columbia Basin after the war. Didn't work then either.
There is a highway out in the Permian Basin between Coyanosa and Pecos. I thought it was sticks lined up along the pavement in the evening at first but nope. Rattlesnakes lined up against the blacktop to get warm.
