“Tesla won the charger standard battle “
All the kilowatts are generated by burning coal and natural gas.
Let me repeat that
All the kilowatts are generated by burning coal and natural gas.

No in Texas at night all the kw can and have been wind power we have well over 50-000megawatts of installed wind power and at night it’s the sole power source besides the nukes that never get turned off. We have nights where the wholesale price of power is negative and wind is curtailed before the miles everything else shuts down as well. Coal is less than 9% of Texas grid.

Are you in the power industry? I am I sell power and consult as an engineer in the industry as well.

Right now at 1645 the ERCOT grid is 43% wind, 24% solar , 18% natural gas, 7% coal, and 7% nuclear. Those are live ERCOT nunbers.

At least argue from a point of fact. Coal is a tiny fraction of power in my home state and as a nation it’s less than 20% total anywhere. Natural gas picks up the slack when peak power is needed. The way it should be looked at is every megawatt hour solar or wind puts into the grid that’s millions of BTUs of gas that gets saved for another day in the future. There is a finite supply of gas and it will be more valuable for chemicals and fertilizers and plastics that it ever will be used once and burnt to the sky. I don’t understand why people can’t grasp this simple mathematical reality.

Here is the free ERCOT dashboard power professinals get much better access look at the wind and solar today vs coal

All of my power this month has come from my roofs plural and I sold a good chunk of it to ERCOT at peak rates I am installing at 10 to 15kw turbine and another 20000 watts of panels on roofline and posts garnering more peak rates. It’s literally like having money trees in the back acreage. My Tesla has used zero kWh from the grid let alone coal and it never will nor can the dotgov turn off the sun so I always will have power for my home and now at least one of my vehicles. We get 220+ days of sun in Texas at my location that’s thousands of kWh per month.
