Surveillance camera footage, as well as several videos captured by citizens in the Israeli port city of Eilat, on the Red Sea, show at least two interceptor missiles being launched from a C-Dome system aboard a corvette on station there last night. The engagement appears to end with a significant explosion over the sea, as the drone was brought down. (good video at link)

It’s good to see it was successful in this case but Iron Dome has been shown to be only partially successful against swarms. It’s also not cost effective - the missiles Iron Dome uses to take down other missiles and drones cost way more than what they take down. Both the US and Israel will need to come up with alternatives.

If I recall, the iron dome missiles cost $45k each. They’re used to shoot down drones that cost less than 1k.

Maybe Israel can save the UK and American ships 🙄

They certainly can’t save themselves

Good to see that the one drone failed to hit the Israeli corvette and the anti-drone missile was able to destroy another hostile drone. However as the Russians are painfully learning, in this modern technological era with guidance systems, stealth, accuracy and lethality improving constantly, the era of naval surface combatants and land armored vehicles is over.

imho at some point the costs and constraints of laser will be overcome.

When that’s done one laser gun with guidance can rapidly eliminate a swarm of incoming drones.
