A Texas family is demanding answers after their seventh grader came home from school with second-degree burns on her hands - allegedly from a punishment for laughing in class.
Caldwell Junior High's Caydence Wilson suffered the burns at the middle school, and her mom, Chloe Couch, shared her daughter's injuries Sunday morning in a post to social media.
The post was quickly shared by people perturbed by what they saw, with some of the images incredibly tough to look at.
KBTX spoke to both in-depth about what allegedly led to the burns, as the school issued a statement asserting it was investigating.
During the sit-down, Couch claimed she was not called or made aware of the situation, even after Caydence asked school staff if she could call her to bring home bandages.
'She tried to reach out to me, and it wasn't until she was on the bus ride home that she sent me those pictures of those blisters oozing,' Couch said of her daughter's injuries, which have already put a financial burden on the Caldwell family
'I'm a single mom of three kids,' she said. 'So I'm living paycheck to paycheck and making my ends meet how I can for my kids.
'I can't afford medical bills and medications and wraps that we're having to apply every four to six hours for the pain.'
Joined by Caydence, the mom went on to recall the harrowing hospital visit she and the child were forced to sit through, after the girl's softball coach allegedly forced her to do bear crawls on a blistering hot field.

They may have been in old schools but by the 70s they had gone to green boards (yes, still chalk) and then in the 80s pretty much everything was switching to white board (even though the old stuff was still there some places) and around 00 they were switching to very little on white boards because it was laptop projected which then became Smartboards and now Promethean boards.
So, its been 40ish years since there was really any erasers to bang out because when the white boards appeared and in class rooms that had both they just went to white boards.
I checked with a young relative that went to a ‘50s era school that had been upgraded to green boards in the ‘70s with additional white boards added in the 80s and she had done so during the 00s but this person has never seen black/green boards used and only saw white board usage early on. A high school junior sitting here with me has never seen non-electronic boards actually used in class.
Really, that was a pretty useless punishment even if you could. We used to beg to get to be the ones to go outside and do it so we could watch the clouds we were creating dance away in the breeze. It was like a bag of smoke bombs that you didnt even have to spend your allowance on.
Ultimately, punishment is what this conversation is really about. There isnt any at school and generally there isnt any in the homes either because if anyone attempts to punish a child then there are lawsuits and calls to CPS.
Actually read through all of the responses on some of these threads, “Well, if a teacher ever did that then Id go right down to the school and...” and what? Show the world what a worthless individual you are for thinking that its OK for your child to steal from and molest other peoples children?
So the next day that persons little criminal bastard goes back to the public school to interact with all the other little criminal bastards under the nominal supervision of pedophiles and we as a society cant quite figure out why our children dont learn anything and are always being tempted with drugs and such.
Neither the corrupt lazy parents looking for a payday nor the child molesters in the public school system actually care about the child whatsoever and actually become allies in teaching the children that they can get away with anything they can dream up. And they do...
Right up until they turn 18 and wind up in prison because the non-violent approach of talking is considered a much better, loving, and safer, outcome than putting them back on the straight and narrow at 14 with a swift kick in the ass.
Of course we wouldnt have to have it get to that point if there had been punishment all along but we have turned over the determination of what is best for our children to bliss ninnies with degrees in child development from the same communist indoctrinations camps looking to remake society.
I remember beating up a couple of neighbors and their parents came over and tried to beat up my parents.
