A Texas family is demanding answers after their seventh grader came home from school with second-degree burns on her hands - allegedly from a punishment for laughing in class.
Caldwell Junior High's Caydence Wilson suffered the burns at the middle school, and her mom, Chloe Couch, shared her daughter's injuries Sunday morning in a post to social media.
The post was quickly shared by people perturbed by what they saw, with some of the images incredibly tough to look at.
KBTX spoke to both in-depth about what allegedly led to the burns, as the school issued a statement asserting it was investigating.
During the sit-down, Couch claimed she was not called or made aware of the situation, even after Caydence asked school staff if she could call her to bring home bandages.
'She tried to reach out to me, and it wasn't until she was on the bus ride home that she sent me those pictures of those blisters oozing,' Couch said of her daughter's injuries, which have already put a financial burden on the Caldwell family
'I'm a single mom of three kids,' she said. 'So I'm living paycheck to paycheck and making my ends meet how I can for my kids.
'I can't afford medical bills and medications and wraps that we're having to apply every four to six hours for the pain.'
Joined by Caydence, the mom went on to recall the harrowing hospital visit she and the child were forced to sit through, after the girl's softball coach allegedly forced her to do bear crawls on a blistering hot field.

I guess the coach is going to be out some money. He probably only thought that she would get tired shoulders or something.
The coach is an idiot. I thought about what I said in comment 1? I know why they don’t do that anymore. They don’t teach stuff to kids so the black board and erasers are not dirty!
That is the problem!
They’re teaching them “stuff and things”.
What stuff and things though?
Well, stuff and things that they don’t need and don’t need to know.
They are teaching everything but the three R’s
Artificial turf with mulched black rubber tires as in-fill can really cook in the sun. Cruel abuse by the coach.
True.
They graduated kids who don’t know how to read, do math, or even write.
Oof! It's that stuff? Her parents better start regularly checking her for cancer.
How odd, that what is basically a little story about a 13 year old girl being disciplined after acting up in class has become a national story. This “exclusive report” dishes out the first and last names of this minor child and her mother.
Surprisingly, the street address of the family home has been left out.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Because kids aren’t students in publik skrewls.
Kids are just the grist for Deep State’s diploma mills.
? Why should their home address be published?

If what’s alleged is true, that coach ought to be up on criminal charges.
And why in God’s name aren’t parents teaching their kids to refuse to comply when they are treated like this?!
I was being sarcastic. I should have used a // symbol.
You must have misunderstood, the phrase is “stuffing things”.
Around that age, I got caught laughing in class a few times, and one time for passing a note. All it took was for the teacher to admonish me for me to stop – no detention and no physical punishments were necessary.
And from what I read this girl’s laughing in class didn’t even take place in the coach’s class.
“The principal told them they would be in class detention for about 10 to 20 minutes, and they would let their softball coach know about the situation”.
So, the coach took it upon herself to met out a punishment, one that seemed pretty extreme given the circumstances.
Fantastic. So when my kid comes home with “strawberries” (abrasions on the hip) from learning how to correctly slide into a base we can get rich with a good lawyer and lawsuit.
Gotta love how the “karens” are exposing the paths to wealth in this country.
I’m appalled by the fact that the family hasn’t gone to the cops, filed charges.
If the family is looking for a quick payoff instead of justice, that’s a rotten message to send to your kid.
Agreed but the mom also went to the school first and they evidently blew off her concerns.
