My mom lives in the total eclipse track and has been hyping it for over a year. But that’s just because she is always alert for any excuse to have a family reunion. She has drummed up a fair number of takers from the far reaches of the clan. I refuse to have anything to do with it for the same reason the local public authorities are freaking out. They expect eleventy-seven bazillion sightseers, two thirds of them without food or lodging, out of gas, half of them drunk, and camping out on every scrap of ground not protected by an electric fence. A lot of them will, despite warnings, expect to drive in, see the eclipse, and drive home that night. That’s not going to work.
That’s my plan since I’m about an hour and half drive from the centreline. If I’m not back on FR by Tuesday you’ll know the eclipse got me. Erase me from your ping lists and put me up on the FR Memorial Wall. :)
