They always start high, then have to reset the numbers midway through the season. Watch. Come July, they will put out a press release to adjust their numbers downward.

No...Mission Control is in Houston because Lyndon Johnson forced NASA to locate it in his home state. By the way...Houston is not immune to hurricanes.

That was my point exactly.

Politics.

In a sane world, America would NOT launch spacecraft in Florida, a zone that is so prone to lightning strikes.

While Mission Control could be anywhere technically (it’s not like they’re looking out the windows to get telemetry data), LBJ got his way.

I could care less where the Hurricane forecast originates. What is bothersome is the fear pr0n every year.

Dunno why they even bother making these predictions. They’re never right. Forecasting in general is getting worse by the day so much so TWC can’t even get current conditions right relying solely on computer models with zero local human intuition computer models fail to take into consideration.

Weather forecasting and sports prognosticators......nobody ever remembers how wrong they were.......both great gigs if you think about it

That’s irrelevant really.

Their ability to accurately forecast the hurricane season is not dependent on where I live.

Especially since it’s CSU out of COLORADO which is making the forecast.

I refer to meteorologists as “politicians in training”
