The oceans contain unlimited amounts of deuterium billions of years worth. You chose lithium, tritium, helium 3 or more deuterium to fuse your first 2H atom with. The best is helium 3 it fuses with no neutron reaction so no radioactivity just millions of election volts of charged particles direct to DC current is possible then no need for turbines. Easiest is tritium this makes copious amounts of neutrons but is good for a fusion fission hybrid where you breed 2000+ kg per year of PU239 for use in regular nuclear reactors.

Fusion fission hybrids are possible today you don’t need to break even with fusion which Skorea already had to run a hybrid the Q factor can be 0.5 not 1 and with a fission blanket around the fusion core you get a fission multiplication ratio of up too 100 to one. So for every megawatt of fusion can breed and burn uranium at 100 megawatts of output. Why because one 14 megaelectron volt neutron can split uranium atoms all the way down to 1Mev in the fast spectrum. Each time it hits a uranium atom it loses a little energy and ricochet to the next setting up a chain of fission from a single fusion event. Each uranium atom that spots released 200 megaelectron volts as gamma rays and a couple of also very high-energy neutrons and so on and so on it snowballs quickly into a chain reaction of hundreds of times what the original single fusion event was. This is how we should use fusion today build 5 gigawatt hybrids run them on 50 megawatts of fusion ion power and breed PU239 by the multiple metric tonne per unit per year each hybrid will feed 10 PWR or 18 CANDU reactors their fissile fuel needs per year no need to mine anymore uranium use the depleted uranium as seed fuel in the fusion hybrids. There is well over a thousands years worth of depleted uranium resources just sitting in storage of the enrichment plants worldwide. This is the way.
