***The Bee Whisperer from Heaven***

Touching, soothing. I learned a long time ago not to swat at bees - or wasps. I suppose it was a good thing that they were not 'killer bees'. (?)

I had a hive appear in the wall of my 'shop' (shed) behind the house a couple of years ago. I hired a bee 'expert' to remove the hive; turns out he just exterminated them. sigh

I regularly have bees land on me. Sometimes they’ll let me stroke them with my finger a little.

Oh dang. Having performed that procedure, I can tell you that getting them all out is nearly impossible if you can’t find the queen. Which means removing walls, clapboard, etc. to expose the entire comb. If the queen is found, every bee will follow her pheromones. There might be a few field bees hanging around the next day, but they are lost without her. Then the building has to be repaired. Most people don’t want to do that. But if honeybees are to be saved (non-native species by the way) it will be done by hobbyists and backyarders. Not the commercial guys.
