Where we went wrong in the pandemic will be the subject of much analysis and many books.

Here’s a thumbnail which is not meant to be all inclusive. It’s only meant to be my humble opinion.

If you read any book on epidemics in the US, you’ll find it concludes with predictions of a second ‘Spanish Flu’ . It will include descriptions of how we need to be prepared to prevent the upcoming devestation. Our epidemiologists saw COVID 19 as proof of their predictions and their opportunity to prove their importance.

Importantly, we, the people, panicked. We saw the videos of people dropping in the streets of China. We read the reports of crematories overloaded in China. We demanded our politicians ‘do something’. Our politicians responded with mask mandates, social distancing, lockdowns, and vaccine mandates. They kept them in place far too long.

That does not justify the falsehoods and misinformation over the vaccines.

If you read any book on vaccines, you’ll be struck by the similarities of today’s reactions to the mRNA vaccines with the historical reactions to vaccines since the days of the smallpox vaccination. Back then, the anti-vaxxers claimed the smallpox vaccine contained bat feces and other various poisons and would turn the vaccinated into cows. Today, the anti-vaxxers claim the mRNA contains poisons and will change our DNA.

Every vaccine that has been developed has been met by criticism from a very vocal and dedicated contingent. They have distored facts and misrepresented science. (See Wakefield.)

In brief summary, we, our politicians, and our health care professionals over-reacted. The anti-vaxxers have, in their own way, over-reacted in their opposition. They ceaselessly scour the internet looking for ‘facts’ to justify their oppostion. It matters not how credible these’facts’ just as long as they futher the anti-vaxxer narrative. They are some demanding Nuremburg trials and the noose for vaccine developers. And, no, the vaccines are not going to kill billions resulting in global depopulation.

I personally think we should have followed the Great Barrington Declaration.

Thanks for your inputs. Yes the over reaction was an issue but I still believe it was part of the governments plan. You never vaccinate into a pandemic. I’m noyt even sure this qualifies as a pandemic. I think it was a psyop. In addition the worse time to introduce technology and hinder innovation is exactly this situation. You didn’t mention anything on the issue of vaccinating children, mothers ..,. With a prototype Vax. I think mRNA will have a bright future if they didn’t kill the tech opinion with this bS.

I know you’re a fellow Alabamian so thanks for your response. We definitely disagree. But you have been steady in your opinions, I will give you that.
But
The biggest issue I have was a great tech was vaporized for no benefit. I still believe this will down as a major medical/political failure. Which means the politicians will blame, destroy, bankrupt the medical side because they can when the numbers turn out as I think they will are already have. I’m often wrong so it wouldn’t be the first time.
