My parents had rear engine Corvairs when I was a kid. I just looked at pictures of similar models and they had the gas filler on the front fender.

Gas cap inside the engine compartment? I would be filling that up from gas cans when the engine is cold and then I would allow time after any splashing for the gas to evaporate before I started it.

Just how are they going to limit what cars get gas at a self-service gas station? Ain’t happening.

Can you clarify that?   It looked like a self-service gas station in the video.   He had already opened the trunk and put the nozzle in the filler port when he went inside to station to get them to turn on the gas pump.

That cannot happen in the US. We pay at the pump. At least I do.

I pay at the pump too, but I am aware that many others pay for gas with the last three dollars wadded up in their pocket.

I suppose that it is a blessing to live in "The Biggest Little City in the World", recently named the happiest place to live in US.

Here in the Atlanta Metro area, with way over 6 million people, I actually have pulled up to pump #20 and had to go into the store/station to find ten people in line at the counter and the poor overworked clerk five minutes behind watching the pump controls.   All of our pumps have a sign that says pay by card or pay inside.   I've seen delivery trucks block the view of the clerk preventing him from seeing that he needs to clear and reset a pump for a customer.

You know how when you are 18 years old you think you will never die? Well, my best friend and I were on Interstate Hwy 10 as we drove through Baton Rouge,LA. She had a Corvair with a rusted (completely through)passenger side floorboard. We put a floormat over the rather large hole to keep from being splashed when it rained. Her purse fell from my lap and through the hole onto I 10. We retrieved it but with 2 brilliant minds like ours,it took some time. We both lived to do it least a few more times. God just seemed to want us live, that's all.
