Sorry Indiana Jones, the Ark of the Covenant Is Not Inside This Ethiopian Church

Not a snarky article but a brief investigation into the modern origins of the claim. I recall this all began in 1980s or '90s with a documentary on one of the early cable tv channels featuring Graham Hancock doing an Indiana Jones into the highlands of Ethiopia. If I remember correctly, he even considers the fact that all Ethiopian Churches have their own 'Ark.'

They took all the large and small holy vessels of the Lord, the ark of the lord, and the king’s possessions, and carried them off to Babylon.

If correct (there is a possibility it is not but I would assume it is) this disproves all the other pre-Babylon loss/hiding theories.
Even if not mentioned specifically at the return it is possible it did return to the new temple and was present during Christ’s life and until the Roman destruction of the temple.

It may either be lost in Babylon or in Rome.
