I point you to the foundation of Catholic analytical theology, the “Summa” of Thomas Aquinas. This is a work of argumentation, of how to come to specific decisions as to right and wrong, good and evil based on, among other things, scripture. Very helpful.

In this case, as should be obvious, the question is that of a “just war”.

Here is a link to the relevant portion of the Summa. Consider the positions of Ukraine and Russia according to the criteria of the Summa. Note how St. Thomas derives these criteria.
