***I have carried a p51 on my keychain for more than 40 years. It is a bit bigger than the p38 and easier to handle.

Attached to a set of my old dogtags is a "Fred" (Field Ration Eating Device) that I was given when we did a stint with the Australians. (Their definition of "Fred" is a little different - (bleeping) Ridiculous Eating Device.



The opener didn't work well with our C-rats, the rim on the Aussie rats were a little wider. The spoon was only good for stirring coffee.

The best part was the bottle opener. The Aussies could always find a few bottles of VB lager no matter where they were!

Interesting! Never heard of that before. My P51 has come in handy many times as other than a can opener. Poke a hole in something, clean out under a fingernail, even as a screw driver.
