The electronics of pacemakers/defibrillators are packaged within a conductive metal enclosure. Usually made of Titanium. They are tested to withstand a pretty large jolt from an external defibrillation. The device itself will probably be OK.

What you would need to worry about is the other end. The leads that are attached to the heart would pick up the intense RF emissions from the EMP and would likely heat up the end causing a heat ablation. It would burn the heart tissue where it is attached.

Thanks, for your input. It sounds like I wouldn’t need to worry about the unit. The other possibilities don’t sound too great, but I’m not going to worry about it for now.
