Consider a backyard chicken or two:
Due to their friendly nature, Scots Dumpys are often kept as pets or backyard chickens. They are known for their ability to form strong bonds with their human caretakers and can be quite affectionate. This makes them a great addition to any family or small farm.

If you’re considering keeping chickens in your backyard, the Scots Dumpy is an excellent choice. This breed is well-suited to a backyard environment, thanks to its adaptability and easy-going nature. Scots Dumpys are generally not prone to wandering and are content to stay within the confines of their designated area.

In addition to their backyard suitability, Scots Dumpys are also known for their excellent egg-laying abilities. They lay medium-sized brown eggs and are consistent layers throughout the year. With proper care and nutrition, a Scots Dumpy can produce approximately 180-200 eggs per year.

Excellent advice Melian, many thanks! My nephew and his wife very much enjoy their chickens, and they never lack for eggs. I swear that they come running when anyone in his family calls to them. :-)

I’ve heard that there are some ducks that actually lay BLACK EGGS. Sort of like a tasty little grenade. LOL
