I remember reading 10-15 years ago that the financial interests who acquired Boeing moved the plant from Seattle area to the East Coast in the crass assumption that thousands of highly skilled workers and engineers could be easily replaced with cheaper employees.
Almost immediately the company made the disastrous R&D decisions that allowed Air Bus to leapfrog their engine technology.
That caused the financial types to try and compensate for their inferior engines using software created to compensate for non-aerodynamic stealth designs.
These are the 737-max planes that have been crashing.
Capitalism is the miracle economic system that feeds the world, but “Financial capitalism” is a degenerate form of it.
Nikki Haley was on Boeing’s board until December if I remember correctly and she gave them many perks when she was governor.
These are the 737-max planes that have been crashing.

Oh great. My Southwest flights on Thursday are on a Boeing 737-800 and a 737 Max8, and my return flights are also Boeings 737-700 and a Max8. “God, please help and protect me if you have a continued purpose for me here on Earth. If I’m finished here, I look forward to seeing you soon. Amen”
Boeing world headquarters made a 21 year stop in Chicago first. Then moved to Virginia.
The East Coast move? Yeah, but their slide started even earlier. In the 80’s they moved their top floor to Chicago. I said at the time they were taking the suits way too far from the production floor. Sure boingboing has airplanes but taking the morning flight 1500 miles to check on the rivet stock got boring really fast. It took them upwards of 40 years to double back on that bit of cleverness and they still haven’t recovered. Then they doubled down on dumb by ordering the clotshots. Listening to the current leadership mumble I’m not sure there are enough brass ball bearings left to bring the company around.
