My granddaughter went to a private college with a United Methodist Church affiliation.
She was to spend a semester in England and was there, though not long, when COVID hit, to the point where travel was being shut down.
Neither side of the ocean was making any attempt to get the students back home.
My granddaughter is a suburban kid and was pretty much alone with no survival skills, so she was lost as to what to do next.
My wife gave her precise instructions on what to do and where to go and got her home.
Interesting part is,(sorry it took so long to get to this part) the college re-imbursed her tuition and gave her credit for the semester and never asked them to take a jab, as far as I know.(Bragging rights here - She is on target to get her Masters by this coming Christmas and is currently carrying a 4.0 out of a 4.0 GPA. - end bragging rights)Whether she got the jab or not I don’t know...I never asked.
Aftermath...I helped arm her with some...um...self-defense tools. I helped her get her Firearms Owner Identification(Illinois - go figure)and I am helping her get her concealed carry card.
To do that we are targeting Mondays to go to the range and I will help her get familiar with a couple of pistols.
I am hopeful she will be less alone and have some survival skills.
Then...on to prepper stuff.
