Now you know I have to ask:
How did you end up with 895 lbs of wheatberries? Yikes. Sometimes I make and freeze bread to add to meatloaf and Greek meatball recipes, like a filler.
That’s a boatload of berries, girl. Do they have a long shelf life?
“Do they have a long shelf life?”
Hopefully CottonBall’s shelf life is much longer!

Well, first you have to have a bit of a shopping compulsion. And decide that you’re going to start prepping. Luckily wheat berries have a shelf life of at least 30 years. Supposedly they have found some in Egyptian tombs that were still viable.
I bought the required amount of grains, beans,, etc. But then I kept finding really really good sales. Especially on the LDS website. So I would just buy a box or pail here and there.
A couple years ago I decided to start adding everything up to see if I had the right ratio. I’m glad nobody was watching me with my spreadsheet, it was kind of embarrassing as the numbers kept going up.
So then I decided I needed a plan to make it all sound reasonable. I decided bread would be what I barter with. I had an outdoor Italian pizza oven, so that I wouldn’t be dependent upon gas or electricity. But that broke in the last move. But I’m on the lookout for another one.
