“leavout the car industry part of it”

I hate the media. I would have to toss a coin to see if I hate liberal politicians or the media worse.

Luckily, it seems that at least half the population doesn’t believe that it mainstream media. Not when Trump is winning primaries in a landslide and probably the general election as well. If the votes are counted correctly.

I’m so sorry to hear you’re having pain. But I’m really glad you’re doing the right thing and resting, it’s really hard to stay off electronic devices these days. When I decide to do that for my mental health I feel like I’m back in the Stone age.

People aren’t listening to Biden about buying EVs either. We’re thinking about getting the cheap one, just for fun. It looks like the Chevy bolts are not selling and the price has dropped by 10k. Then there’s a $7,500 tax credit. I’ll have to run the numbers and make sure it doesn’t put us into the AMT bracket first. It only works out for us because electricity is cheap here. How big can do all the wiring himself to be able to charge it somewhere outside. Don’t want to risk a fire. And we would only use it to tootle around town. So it can always be charged at home.

also a tax credit for a used EV

decent explanation here
https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/used-clean-vehicle-credit
modified adjusted gross income is taken into account for qualifying for a tax credit

New EVs
Single and married filing separately: $150,000.

Head of household: $225,000.

Married filing jointly: $300,000.

Used EVs
Single and married filing separately: $75,000.

Head of household: $112,500.

Married filing jointly: $150,000.

I always wondered by chevy adiosed the volt so early. It was pretty much a plug in hybrid.
I have a 2017 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid I bought new Jan 2018.
I only have 40k miles on it and it came with an unlimited warranty on the hybrid battery.
It will to be pried from my cold, dead hands.

Happy hunting.

The ONE AND ONLY WAY I would even consider obtaining an EV of any kind/price would be as a lease with a term six months under the minimum life expectancy of the batteries/controller.

(Love to claim it for myself but I got that from the lips of a former E-9 Aviation Electronics Technician.)

Anyway, if I was in the market for an electrically-powered vehicle that I would "only use to tootle around town", I'd go for double duty and buy a nice electric golf cart.

Might just insist on that lease deal with that as well.

Thing is electric cars don’t save the environment, they destroy it. Where does everyone think those 5-10 thousand pound batteries go when they die. Hell the left went nuts over AAs and ‘disposing of them correctly’.
