New York AG says meat producing giant made misleading environmental claims to boost sales

The giant meat producer JBS was accused of making misleading claims about its greenhouse gas emission goals to boost sales among environmentally conscious consumers in a lawsuit filed Wednesday by New York Attorney General Letitia James.

The lawsuit filed in a state court in New York City alleges that the company claimed it will achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040 despite having no viable plan to meet that commitment. The lawsuit names as defendants JBS USA Food Company and JBS USA Food Company Holdings, the American subsidiary of the world-leading producer of beef products based in Brazil.

James says the company made misleading statements about its pledges to curb deforestation and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to capitalize on consumers’ desire to make climate friendly choices.

The lawsuit cites a full-page JBS USA advertisement in The New York Times in 2021 that includes the line: “Agriculture can be part of the climate solution. Bacon, chicken wings and steak with net-zero emissions. It’s possible.”

The Biden administration does have a plan:

“Base load affected facilities that follow the CCS pathway must meet a second phase standard based on 90% capture of CO2, using CCS, by 2035”

“Baseload affected facilities that follow the low-GHG hydrogen pathway must meet a second phase standard based on co-firing 30% low-GHG hydrogen by volume by 2032 and a third phase standard based on cofiring 96% by volume low-GHG hydrogen by 2038”

Net Zero normally means you pay someone for “carbon credits”.
Sort of paying the church for your sins, then you get to day you are a just and moral person.

Read where almost all car manufacturers are paying Tesla for carbon credits, to the tune of BILLIONS.

There are plans out there:

and the customers will pay, dearly.

“Bacon, chicken wings and steak with net-zero emissions. It’s possible.”“

I think I see where they offended.

Release a goal without a plan to meet it 13 years later and get sued by AG James. You thought NYC was damaged by her action against Trump? This one goes after the Corporations! Not only are building owners selling and leaving the state, now publicly listed corporations are at risk for announcing goals without a detailed plan to back up the plan. Corporations will now more out of NY. Lawfare has now been turned into a tool for communist to achieve their goal!

Some Russians received fish they could not stomach.

They fed the fish to their pigs and ate the pigs.

“If not, say, a restaurant, or similar establishment, I would be laying off every employee, immediately winding down the business and selling off any Remaining physical assets at auction.”

It’s probably best to hang on to such businesses. Sell to your near penniless children for say 1% of the revenues annually until you die. Buy your Florida homestead property.

And JBS in an effort to mitigate any further damages should immediately institute a New Terms of Service Agreement with every company it does business that NONE of their Products be Sold or Delivered to the entire State.

“We won’t be voting-with-our-feet our way out of this.”

Most of us live most of our lives generally within a few square miles.

I have not left my Florida county for several years.

Many countries will be happy to set up autonomous zones for disgusted Americans. Pay income tax for 10 years [the US citizen renouncement tax period](so you pay to your host country instead of to the IRS) and you’re done.

Young people without real estate assets have little to lose. And they can go to college cheaply in the host country for four years of the 10 IRS tax years.

The government makes these promises all the time and have no plan to accomplish it. When do those lawsuits/prosecutions begin?

This little, racist James ho is really getting to be a pain in the ass. New Jerk “judges” need to start doing their jobs instead of pimping her cases for her.

Actually this was explained well in a video:

Basically the carbon in carbon-based fuels is locked in the ground (as in gas, coal, and oil), and would make it into the atmosphere very, very, slowly, if not for human extraction and burning.

The carbon in cows, and all other foods, is ALREADY (or was already, at least was in the recent past) in the atmosphere and instead undergoing transitions, from CO2 (gas) to hydrocarbons (sugar, and then methane, I think). There is no net increase in carbon since nothing new is added to the atmosphere - it’s just bouncing around.

Anyway, the War on Meat continues. I noticed last weekend that the price of lamb was down over 20% in the past few years, and while that might sound like a good thing, it is due to New Zealand (and probably other countries) killing off their sheep herds...to meet their ‘climate goals’, so these low prices will not stick around very long and then the prices will ‘reset’ to levels that lock-out at least 50% of meat consumption - which means, very, very, high.

Uh huh...

And since said false claims only influence a subset of customers... who determines how big that subset of customer was?

Because frankly, not one time have I ever walked into my butcher shop or grocery market and worried about how many times the cow farted before it was slaughtered and processed.

So, what standard, or statistics will be used to determine how large the set of misled customers exactly was? Seems to me this would paramount to determine the penalty, should a conviction come down.

After all if a company makes 1 Billion dollars over the course of the claimed fraud, but the subset of customers affected by the fraudulent claims is .00000001%, the damages and penalty would be pretty small.

So, who gets to determine how big the group of people wronged are?

The same criminals who stated Mar a Lago is worth only 18 million.

Letitia’s coming for your New York strip steak.

Per wiki...

“The subsidiary was created when JBS entered the U.S. market in 2007 with its purchase of Swift & Company.”

Their home office is in Greeley, Colorado. JBS should stop shipping meat to New York state. When 70/30 hamburger is $47/pound, maybe NY peeps will demand a new AG.
