Wait, what? The FORCE you to take Medicare? Even if you are covered by an employer for a standard health plan?
Yep. My health insurance included in my retirement costs me $0 yet I still have to pay for Medicare.
Technically you may be able to skip signing up but there may be fees later if you choose take it later. The rules are detailed on the Social Security website.

It’s horrible, but yes our POS government FORCES you to sign up for medicare at 65 or 66 I forget exactly , otherwise if you don’t do it then and need it or sign up later you are penalized with a MONTHLY FEE FOR LIFE (money you COULD be using for actual effective care of your choice!!)
Generally yes, but their are a few exceptions. As a previous poster mentioned there is info at the Medicare site. Your company's HR department should tell you what you have to do when closing in on 65 and continue to work with their group policy health coverage.
Yup, when I turned 65 I had to partly because our insurance, Excellus, dropped my coverage like a hot potato.
If you are not yet Medicare mandatory, and have good health insurance, get done any procedure you need BEFORE going on Medicare.
Stuff like cataract surgery, perhaps carpal tunnel or trigger finger, if that's a need. Get any dental work done if you have coverage. Do eye exams and get new glasses. Make sure you are as filled up with prescriptions as possible because Medicare prescription coverage ROTS.
Besides, between the affirmative action medical schools and resources being used up by illegals, medical care is going to continue to deteriorate and eventually be unavailable.
