Video of vivek saying same things as obama, following same script, as if vivek is BO in new packaging to lure in non democrats.
Republicans really need to stop being impressed by well-spoken minorities.
One of the principles I use is how glib a politician is. The more glib, the less trustworthy he will be. A person who knows that he cannot get elected can afford to say whatever he wants, regardless of the consequences. Somebody who actually stands a chance of governing has to be more careful about what he promises because he may have to fulfill those promises.
Very interesting.
These seem like very generic tropes. And going back to 2008, Obama was trying to sound very “normal”. That’s one of his skills really, sounding normal, reassuring, cool, calm and collected.
If Vivek was listening to Obama speeches, he was learning from a very talented speech writer (Cody Keenan or John Favreau).
Yeah, it looks like Ramaswamy borrowed a few campaign techniques, but Ramaswamy’s political philosophy and positions are nothing like Obama’s.
It depends on what you mean by glib.
All this stuff is rather generic, though well delivered.
Both men are giving prepared speeches.
If by glib you mean having a ready answer, or comeback, then no, Obama wasn’t really glib at all. He was good at delivering speeches. Trump is great at comebacks, and for that matter so is Vivek.
The epitome of glib these days is. I think, Ben Shapiro.
He always has an answer. The problem with the guy is exactly that, he is professionally glib.
I mean glib as in, everybody will have their train car if I am elected without explaining how it will be afforded or how we can build such an extensive railways system where everybody has tracks to their driveway.
And that may be. Obama (and his speechwriters) was really good at sounding reasonable. Initially anyway.
It would be better had Ramaswamy run for and won some other offices first.
Well, I see that as different. One can make stupid promises clumsily or well.
He’s a bit glib, but I think it’s more well-rehearsed. To me, being glib means saying lots of things that don’t have much meaning when you think about it. The glad hander, for example. Big smile and lots of handshakes and saying lots of stuff, but everything he says is like cotton candy. Lots of fluff but not much in substance.
When somebody is like that, and Vivek is like this, and he comes out of nowhere and is on all the media shows and such, it tells me that he has a lot of backing from people who have ill intent towards you and me.
Trump sure is the exception to that rule!
Vivek is really a sharp cookie. That being said considering Vivek as VP material is not a good idea. If he does get an PDJT admin job, it should be press secretary or some other position where he can be fired for stepping out of line.
There cannot be too many sharp folks in an administration but they must by loyal.
He definitely is smarmy and swarthy. Do. Not. Trust.
Being rehearsed is not being glib. Being glib means not putting any thought into the answers. Do you think that Trump gives ready answers without having thought about the question over the years?
Liberals are glib, because they can create matter, like on Star Trek. It will be easy to produce a train car for every individual in America. They ask questions like, where are we going to get all this copper, because the copper will just be there. Where are we going to get all this steel for track, no problem because we will just find the steel. Where are we going to get all the aluminum for the train cars? We will have it. That’s glib.
Trump has done the cursory research for his positions. He doesn’t do glib, even if he does rattle off the information in a superficial way.
That’s the best way I can explain it. If somebody can’t see the difference between rehearsed and glib, I don’t know how else to explain it. Glib answers are unresearched answers, I guess is a good way to put it.
“Obama was trying to sound very ‘normal’. That’s one of his skills really, sounding normal,”
Wow. I NEVER thought he sounded normal. Unless giving off snake vibes is normal. Every time he opened his mouth I was repulsed. The cadence. The lies. The thick molasses quality.
I think VR does a better job of bafflegab than BO; he’s more enthusiastic and animated. Still creepy.
OK, I see your point now, and I agree that Trump isn’t glib.
Two words: Michael Steele
I believed him too at one time
