I suspect they likely soak the battery remnents in urine to extract the Cobalt. What I want to know does this kind of procees also extract lithium? If restaurants can recycle cooking oil for biofuel creation, why not hook up mens urinals for collecting pee. Also collection in pig and cow barns.
Pee is easy to collect. I had a landlord friend who was afraid to evict someone because he had about 150 bottles of pee sitting around his apartment. What if he took a bat to them when he got his eviction notice?

The scientists did not say where they sourced the urine used for the experiment. Maybe sufficient samples were culled from some diabetics, like me!
