Pizza has been a big time mark up for years. Dough, tomato sauce, cheese, sliced meats, olive oil and toppings. $28 bucks buys one a nice sit down restaurant meal in many places. I got tired of the rip off that is pizza so I now make my own. It’s more work and not as good but it’s tasty enough for me.
Invest in a “baking steel” or a “baking stone” and get your oven as hot as it will go. Some top out at 500 F, others at 550 F. Buy pre-made pizza dough and stretch it out. Or make your own dough (it’s very easy to do). Works best if you use a “preferment” and let that sit for 24 hours.
We turn out great pizzas at home.
Half of that will get you a nice bowl of pho ga and a Vietnamese coffee in CDA.
