They ate anything that the could get their hands on that probably wouldn’t kill them. I imagine that in areas like the Andes or Tibet any sources of meat were few and far between.

“Our analysis shows that the diets were composed of 80 percent plant matter and 20 percent meat.”

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Is that really all that much different than today’s average human diet?

“ diets of early people of the Andes …”

What does this mean? Punctual people?

Ok, what year.

Obviously humans were able to digest meat and plants.

Diets would seem to be a matter of what was easily available.

I wasted four years of my life getting a Bachelor degree in anthropology and I can tell you, for a fact, that whenever ancient monkey-men got a chance to eat meat, they were all over it like white on rice.

Our closest living relatives chimpanzees eat me whenever they can catch it and all other primates eat insects whenever they can.

Like global warming and 'chicks with dicks', the myth of the vegan primate is a goddamn lie.

“ Because plants are easier to catch than animals.”

“ ‘vegetarian’......old Indian word for ‘Piss Poor Hunter’............”

You guys said basically the same thing and hit the nail on the head.

Ok, fine.

The average height of Peruvians today is 5 feet 2.63 inches.

Let that sink in.

I think there is definitely some measure of propaganda in this article.

“...early humans of the Andes, spanning from 9,000 to 6,500 years ago...”

There ain’t a helluva lot of plants in that picture.

They must have ate them all................

Thanks.

9000 years ago is not early man.

Exactly - one small, fairly unique area shows that the people there ate what was available....this is anti-science.

> The only disadvantage of eating plants is that they are light in calories, so you will have to eat a lot more often to obtain the necessary calories.

There is enough protein. That’s not a problem.

Of course, you have to choose the right plants because celery is mostly water, but spinach has a fair amount of protein.

No surprise.

Plants were far easier to get, required no hunting skills or availability of prey.

Hasn’t it always been the case that people in power get the meat and the people at the bottom eat veggies with very occasional access to meat? If they had a larger sample, I’d be more inclined to draw some conclusion from the study.
