Tucker Carlson has been mocked over a fawning video praising Moscow's 'cheap and fresh' groceries - while overlooking the much lower wages in Russia.
The former Fox News firebrand wheeled a grocery cart around a Russian superstore while marveling at the stock as he continued his Putin PR tour.
-snip/
The video drew widespread ridicule from people online, as many pointed out the disparity between the average wage in Russia - which is the equivalent of $9072 - or 6.5 times less than the average US salary of $59,428.
Many joked he was working for free as a one-man 'tourism marketing team' for Vladimir Putin's country.
'Tucker says groceries in Russia cost about 1/4th of what they cost in America,' one person wrote on X.
'What he doesn't mention is the average Russian salary is 1/5th the average US salary.'
Even his fans were disparaging. 'I love Tucker but this $104 charge for groceries is misleading if you look at the average salary for a Russian citizen is about $14,771 according to Google,' one supporter said.
'Tucker should also have to live for a month on an average Russian salary, in an average Russian apartment, and see how his grocery budget looks then,' scoffed one X user.

Yeah, but the grocery store is pretty nice and the prices are better than here.
What I don’t understand is why people have to lie about things like this. But they do. They have some very nice things now and it is depressing that our used to be nice things are being destroyed.
That doesn’t mean everything everywhere in that country is nice, just like here. But we are allowing our cities and towns to be ruined all over the country.
This is the reality.
Moscow is a playground for Russia’s rich.
How many armchair Curtis LeMay responses do I have to read to get to a reasonable post or two?
Well, the average Russian salary is less than 1/6 the average American salary, but the food cost is 1/4 of America’s, so their grocery bills, relative to their earning power, are even more onerous than ours.
Tucker is an idiot here.
The standard of living of most of the world is below that of the US, but that doens't mean the citizens of those countries are destitute or deprived [some are and some aren't].
The propogandists would have us all believe that the Russians are starving to the death that Putin has already achieved because of his 100 fatal maladies. Now I am going to accept that premise and conclude that the inteview was AI, which means the Tucker in the video was no more real than the Putin in the video.
Who cares? I didn’t even know the guy. Blinken and Zeepers care.
You mean like criticizing the US govt here for election fraud?
The advantage of higher salaries in the US shows up in greater buying ability of imported Chinese stuff, fuel and manufactured goods.
Teachers are paid much more in the USA, but so are construction workers, truck drivers, lawyers, shop clerks, burger flippers, etc.
What jacks my jaw is seeing all those Californians and East coasters coming to Texas and marvel at the cost of homes. The massive influx brought affordable homes to increase dramatically while salaries remained level.
As NYC and LA are here. Now they aren’t so nice.
I realize he implied that Russians live better, but I don’t remember him saying that outright. In any case, he should have known to quit while he was ahead...now he gave the Left a ton of ammo.
And a lot of that is because Zeepers are far more worried about grift for NATO and the EU and the MIC and the swamp and Z-man and our Congress and our MIC than they are about the welfare of the actual or would-like-to-be taxpaying citizens of the US by worrying about thinks, like, oh the border, and free stuff for everyone except citizens and the consequential inflation which is the thing Tucker was actually pointing out.
They don’t have to go backward, but they can pick a better leader than Putin. Although, he made it so he can be president forever. Poor Russians are screwed.
TDS - Tucker Derangement Syndrome.
He didn't even imply. The Zeepers and his MSM critics inferred what he didn't say to beat him over the head with it. It's a cheap lawyer trick.
“You mean like criticizing the US govt here for election fraud?”
The ~2000 ‘mules’ and other thieves in Maricopa County, Philadelphia, Detroit, Fulton County did almost all the work, but don’t mention it. The US Postal Service just delivered the ballots, many of which should never have been mailed out.
One who won't resist NATO expansion up to his border so that the globalists can have what they want.

Fair point, thanks!
