Up front, I believe this should be harshly prosecuted (passing of stopped school buses) for OBVIOUS reasons. So I am not supporting anyone passing a stopped bus, just to be clear. I don’t do it, and I don’t think others should either.

But...what is it now with busses stopping every 100 feet in front of every damn house? And if the kid isn’t there, they wait. What is with that?

I know there are people who will say “BUT THERE ARE NO SIDEWALKS, BLAH BLAH BLAH!”

This is in places with sidewalks. What happened to having kids walk 50 to 100 yards to congregate somewhere and wait for a bus, instead of stopping every 100 feet???

There’s an elementary school not far from where I live. When I’m out walking in the mornings, I see kids waiting for the bus less than 400 yards from the school, and there’s a sidewalk the whole way. They wait longer for the bus than it would take to walk.

There are also cars lined up for blocks to drop kids off, mostly SUVs and pickups, and nearly every one idling. It’s just ridiculous.

agree. the school busses can drop a kid off wherever the parents request, so if it is on a 4 lane highway, they stop, traffic in both directions so some high school kid can get off where mommy works.
i get it for the littles but if you are old enough to drive a car, you should know how to cross the street by now.
don’t get me started with the chatty mommy and bus drivers either.

We live in a small neighborhood composed of three cul-de-sacs which all which meet up. A total of about 55 houses. The school bus stops four times in this neighborhood. Four times. Every kid in the neighborhood could walk 50 yards on sidewalks to a single location to be picked up. Yeah like that’s going to happen.

Nevertheless as ludicrous as the school bus system is when the bus is stopped and lights are flashing there are children getting off or on. And zooming past that is negligent homicide.
