I grew up in New Castle County DE and was in the thick of deseg in the late 70s. We did the exact same thing, shipped a bunch of suburban kids from all around the county to the city of Wilmington and vice versa. Before deseg there was one bad district and four good ones. After deseg there were five bad ones. Public education in New Castle County was never the same. And guess who the young Senator from Delaware was who fought deseg? You get one guess.

Interesting; I know people who work in Delaware but live across the border in the PA Philly suburbs bc the schools in the Wilmington suburbs and city are horrible.
