I had an “opportunity” to move to Pittsburgh about 10 years ago with my then current job but the property taxes there are 20% higher than where I lived then and now. Something the employer conveniently failed to reveal outside of our own personal research.
So thankful I let that job go and stayed put. Was rapidly starting to hate the job with a passion anyway.
I live near Aberdeen Proving Ground where the military develops and tests a myriad of systems, including lots of bombs.
The place has been here for generations. Yet, it’s not uncommon to hear about new residents, mostly named Karen who complain about the explosions.
I just say “Oops, sorry that you didn’t do any research before you moved.”
A young couple moved in next door to us last week. I mentioned something about that to them but it didn’t phase them. They were sort of local and knew about it.
Those are Allegheny County property tax rates. Go to Washington County just south of Pittsburgh.
