“If Washington, Jefferson, or Adams had had a son who went over the mountains to settle the west would they really have wanted him to be excluded from holding the high office that they did?”

Territories are traded between sovereign states like baseball cards.

If we are going to have Presidents like Trump, or Vivek, or Kari Lake, we are going to have to have an office of Prime Minister, or Grand Vizier, or Chef du Cabinet, who is capable of administering the government and rooting out traitors and scoundrels.

Anyone who you might think fits that role is someone who comes from the same snakes nest and is thus likely to also be a scoundrel.

I have voted for Trump 4 times and I am voting for him again in November.

What I was really asking is who would you like to see as President if you could handpick anyone at all whether they’re running for the job or not.

I don’t know enough to pick a competent executive from the current clown show we can see every day on the media.

The things that push a politician out in front of public view, that make him “electable”, are all negatives in our current degraded state.

Getting Trump elected in 2016 was a miracle, but the Deep State beat him like a rented mule, and it’s wishful thinking that a 77 year old man - ANY 77 year old man - can change the way he looks at the world and his local environment enough to do what needs doing.

Trump’s model for moving into the White House (best case scenario) was a hostile business takeover, where the new Chairman moves in on Monday morning and by Wednesday all the managers are aligned or fired. Worst case scenario was winning the Emmy for Presidential Candidate and having all the showbiz people who despised him liking him now.

Maybe I would like to see a Mike Flynn type - a patriot who has worked inside the belly of the beast and who, as a result, wants to see it reformed. If you want to brood about Trump consider how long it took him to fire Flynn and then hang him out to dry.

Place of birth of the parents isn’t the question. The question is their citizenship status as of the date the future POTUS candidate was born.

The parents need not be NBCs.

But they do need to care enough about the fine points of loyal membership in our local polity to ensure they become U.S. citizens (and hopefully also get married) before the child is born.

Thereby severing any potential claim on that child’s hide on the part of a foreign country (e.g., in trying to field an army).

Rep. Elise Stefanik has been mentioned as a possible Trump running mate.

I don’t know much about her, but I did see that she said that had she been Veep she never would’ve certified the 2020 election.

That certainly moves her up a notch on the list with me, and I would think several notches with President Trump.

>>
He has had no political career
A great qualification to take over the largest and most important political job in the world.
>>

Pretty much the rationale behind applauding the Swamp and Deep State is that their success achieving $34T in debt must be rewarded.

I like Vivek. I’d love to see him in a cabinet position to see how he does. He’s got potential for 2028.

I voted in 04.

I voted for McCain in 08 and regret that vote now.

I refused to vote for Romney and sat out the election in 2012. I do not regret that one bit.

he is Qualified to be president, but I think we need to save him in reserve and watch his actions for the next 4-12 years before putting him on a presidential ticket.

Actions and words are not the same. Actions prove the validity of the words.

we need to see what he does over time.

"Looks like a potential VP pick ? I like him. The list is short (or should be)"

Since he started the run for presidential candidate he certainly has been talking a good line. BUT, he was listed as a Klaus Schwab Global Young Leader. True, he got his name taken off the list. Hmm.
Also, I don't think he qualifies as President according to our Constitution. Yes, all that was ignored with Obama, but it shouldn't change anything for a Republican. I have a few reservations about Trump because I lost my brother to his "warp-speed" marvelous so-called vaccine, but I'm voting for him in the primary and president elections. Ramaswamy sets off all sorts of warning lights in me no matter how hard he's been kissing Trump's butt. Aren't there native-born Americans that would do?

Vivek is extremely articulate, and says a lot of the right things, but I don’t think VP is the right place for him. I think he’s be wasted in that position.

The source the Founding Fathers used for Natural Born Citizen was Vattel who defined it to mean born on the country's soil of citizen parents. That is to say owning no allegiance to any foreign country by place of birth or by parental citizenship.

Does he satisfy BOTH legal principles of jus soli (“right of the soil”) — that is, being born on U.S. soil — AND jus sanguinis ("right of blood”) — that is, being born to parents who are United States citizens?

No?

Then he isn't a Constitutional NBC.

I hope not this guy is a fraud and rot.. this guy is a con man and complete fraud. He as a VP pic would be horrible.

If supported Trump since 15 but if he is foolish enough to name this abject con man and fraud as his VP or frankly any position in his administration. I’m done

The SCOTUS has taken this up. It has SCOTUS refused to rule as you are suggesting, and said this is a matter Congress will have to take up. Congress has never passed any law saying what you are saying - ie that both the parents must be US Citizens in addition to the person being born on US territory.

Vivek was born in the US. He is considered to be a natural born citizen.
