There is a huge value to credible credentialing. Some of the Ivies abandoned their locked down and near exclusive franchise. Others see economic opportunity in leaping to the front. Dartmouth has lepped into the fray reestablishing the requirement for SATs for example.

It will take a long time to flush the sewage through the system and it will be interesting to see which institutions establish themselves at the top of the food chain. For instance Cal Tech seems not to have fallen for this garbage, but almost everyone else has.
