Because it’s a hyper-corrupt oligarchy that differs from Russia only in scale.
I see.
Number of Russian nuclear warheads targeting America's heartland: Thousands upon thousands.
Ukraine: ZERO.
Number of times Russia has actually threatened to use those nukes against the West in the past two years, alone: MULTIPLE TIMES.
Ukraine: ZERO.
Number of peaceful, neighboring countries Russia has invaded and either outright annexed or reduced to vassal states with puppet regimes since Putin came to power: At least three (depends upon your definition).
Ukraine: ZERO.
Number of times Russia has demanded the right to have a say in which countries may join NATO: MULTIPLE TIMES.
Ukraine: ZERO.
The military threat potential (and demonstrable eagerness to deploy that potential against the West) of Ukraine is negligible when compared to Russia's. It is thus ridiculous to compare the two, and there is thus absolutely no reason for the U.S. to "breathe a sigh of relief" were Ukraine to lose.
Whereas every patriotic American would kneel and say a prayer of thanks to God if Russia were to be defeated.
For you to say that, in a fight between an ELEPHANT and a MOUSE, you hope that they BOTH lose is deceitfuland disingenuous; the odds are vastly against the mouse.
Further, the West can most certainly affect the outcome. Without Western aid, Ukraine would most likely lose. With Western aid, she has a fighting chance.
If Putin's Russia loses - if Putin is humiliated, and Russian troops forced to return to Moscow - the world will be a safer place.
If Ukraine loses, on the other hand, Putin will simply set his sights on his next victim.
Regards,
I have a different opinion. This is Europe’s problem, just like Kosovo.
Putin can spout off about nukes all he wants. We have them, too. He’s not going to trade Moscow for Kiev.
America is broke, Alexander. Get that?
We can no longer afford to be shoveling billions upon billions of fiat dollars to every border squabble all over the world. Especially not to corrupt governments.
Was Russia wrong to invade Ukraine? Yep.
Do I hope Putin gets his ass handed to him? Yep.
Do I like the current government of Ukraine? Nope. Not one little bit.
Do I think they deserve a blank check from the American taxpayer? Hell no.
We just disagree here.
A pox on both their houses.
