Need more info. Need more context. Need more knowledge about the type of position and generally how they handle work hours.

My husband has over 100 employees. He is super flexible on time off, and they have a lot of say as to what hours they work. But he does expect employees to be there during their chosen shift and missing 2-3 shifts without a legit reason will get them fired. He does not expect them to come in outside of their shift. Period. He might ask them but it would a favor to him.
He has very little turnover, some folks have been with him for decades, but most employees are 20s and 30s. They love working for him and are incredibly productive. Respect really goes both ways.
