check this out - what time it was taken, i don't know - lack of people..why ?

Washington, DC is 38 degrees 53" North, for Jan. 21 that would be sunrise about 7:20 AM and sunset about 5:20 PM. Those shadows look rather long for a noon ceremony. Looks more like 1:30 PM, at least.

Following up on this. The view is due west. The shadows seem to be pointing to the north somewhat, this makes sense for a sun low in the winter sky at that latitude.
