I cruised on the Norway in 1992, the last cruise ship that actually looked like an ocean liner. It’s now scrap. Now the cruise ships look like a science fiction writer’s vision of a space ship.
Oh yeah, we were assigned tables, and one of my table mates was Herbert Anderson, Dennis the Menace’s dad in the tv series. He was a true gentleman. The food was fantastic. The food and the food service on more recent cruises was diner food.

The SS Norway was built as the SS France in about 1960. Norwegian Cruise Lines acquired it and renamed it the SS Norway.
I sailed on the SS Norway in about 2003 and not many months later the steam boilers blew up while it was sitting at the Miami docks and that was the end of this fabulous ship.
