The Library of Alexandria comes to mind, but that was said to be unintentional.

Caliph Omar quotes Omar as saying to Yaḥyā al-Naḥwī: "If those books are in agreement with the Quran, we have no need of them; and if these are opposed to the Quran, destroy them."

The burning may have been unintentional when burned by Caesar in 48bc, but when the Muslim conquerors destroyed it in the 7th century ad, it was surely done intentionally.

Here we have the essence of Islam in one historical anecdote.
