A Utah senator has demanded for toddlers who have not been toilet trained by their parents be denied admission to kindergarten after reports of 'accidents' double.
Republican senator Douglas R. Welton has proposed the HB331 bill which states that schools can only admit children on the condition that they have been bathroom trained.
The bill demands that the Utah State Board of Education create a process for schools to ensure incoming kindergarten students are toilet trained, including 'assurances from a parent'.
The bill is in response to a growing number of cases of children not being trained over the past few years.
Kindergarten teachers in several districts have said that they are encountering behaviors from children never seen before the pandemic.
'We're seeing some aggression and we're also seeing kids who aren't potty trained,' said Jennifer Millett, kindergarten specialist in the Granite School District.
She further said that schools are now bringing in diaper changing stations and parents to help.
The senator said the rising cases of children not being trained are creating health risks for toddlers and problems for teachers.
Welton explained that when teachers chose to help children, they create 'liability' issues for themselves especially when a 'culture that seems to not trust teachers' exists.

“I thought most kids were potty trained by age 2.”
Have you been to the baby department at Wal Mart or other stores lately?
Have you not noticed the Pull Ups they have for kids as old as 6 years old?
Next time you are at the supermarket go and look. Then ask yourself why we did not need these things when we were that age. Yes I’m sure there were some children with bladder and bowel problems but not that darn many.
Before WW2 kids were potty trained about the time they walked, 1 year. Little kids wore dresses then, even the boys. Then when disposable diapers were introduced many kids didn’t get trained until much older.
No. You missed the part about the kid being a spoiled brat.
She got her way and got what she wanted and had a nasty smirk on her face almost constantly.
Hate to have to say it, but late toilet training is a tend among 100% American libs.
Here's an article defending that trend:

There are no toddlers in kindergarten which is for 5 year olds and most schools require that their 5th birthday occur before August 1st or September 1st.
I wonder how many of these untrained 5 year olds are diagnosed autistic and have IEPs?
Yep, I did cloth diapers in thec90’s and my kids were begging for panties as soon as they learned the word.
I don’t have kids but it seems like my two nieces and my nephew were potty training at 2-3 years. Its hard to believe 6 year olds in pull ups. Good grief!
This nonsense of kids will do it in their own time.
All but the mentally deficient were toilet trained before 2, and even the overwhelming majority of those were too, not that long ago…
“Potty training your child in a day” should be required reading instead of the dr Spock derived drivel
That’s what I remember. By two at the latest.
