How many cases of Trichinosis or Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD) have they had in Toronto?

“Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD)”

I thought cooking wouldn’t save you from those prions. It’s got to be around 900F to destroy them.

Cooking will not sterilize prion diseases. Prions are some of the hardiest pathogens around.

“High concentrations of active chlorine in an autoclave over time (e.g., 20,000–25,000 ppm of sodium hypochlorite for 30 min to 1 h) have been shown to be effective against multiple strains of prions.”

Messes up your hamburger meat, however.
